We have tried to answer some of the most common
questions we get about working at ASL PAVING.
1. Are you currently hiring?
We are often hiring, check out the Current
Job Openings page.
2. Do you offer year round employment?
While we do have some year round full time positions, most positions
are seasonal. Most employees will work from the beginning of May
to sometime in November.
3. Is ASL a unionized company?
All non-management employees belong to the R.E.A. (Roadbuilders
Employees Association). This association negotiates a Collective
Agreement between its members and ASL PAVING LTD. The agreement
covers things such as pay rates, working hours, working conditions,
benefits, etc.
4. Does ASL offer any Insurance benefits
to its employees?
Employees receive Group Life Insurance, Weekly Indemnity insurance,
Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance, and Long Term
Disability Insurance.
5. Does ASL have a pension plan?
Yes. We have a Pension Plan that qualifying employees may choose
to join.
6. Does ASL have a health care plan?
ASL Paving provides every employee with a Health Spending Account
(via Blue Cross) worth up to $1,000 dollars per year. Any medical,
dental, eye-care expense that has not been claimed on a different
group benefit plan can be submitted to the employee's Health Spending
Account for reimbursement. Plus, if there is a claim that was
only partially reimbursed by a spouse's plan, the remainder can
be reimbursed from the employee's Health Spending Account. There
are no restrictions on what can be claimed as long as it is a
medical, dental, or eye care expense by the employee, spouse,
or children.
7. Does ASL have a Dental plan?
Dental benefits are available for employees and their eligible
dependents through the employee Health Spending Account.
