"I get a lot of satisfaction from building
something useful in our communities, from roads in a small town
to a parking lot for a school. I take pride in a job well done."
David is ASL's Vice-President and also co-owner
in partnership with President Wade Mitchell. In his role as Vice-President,
David is responsible for the operations side of all ASL PAVING
offices and plants. Wade is focused more on the corporate finance
side of the business while David deals with scheduling issues,
suppliers, equipment dealers, and anything else related to operations
and projects. Both David and Wade work together on long term planning
and strategy for ASL PAVING.
David obtained his engineering degree from the
University of Saskatchewan in 1986. Through the summer of 1985
he worked at ASL PAVING as a summer student, estimating jobs and
managing a few projects. After graduating David moved to Alberta
to work with a highway paving company. In 1990 he went back to
school and received his Master of Business Administration from
the University of Calgary. David also has a Gold Seal Certificate
in Project Management from the Canadian Construction Association.
David continued to work in the Alberta paving
industry until Wade Mitchell called in 2003 with an offer that
was impossible to pass up. In 2004 David became a partner, co-owner,
and Vice-President of ASL PAVING. The partnership has succeeded
as ASL continues to thrive and expand under a third generation
of ownership.
